Why do solid wood doors deform?

2024-07-08 15:41:35

Interior doors are an indispensable part of the home decoration process, which raises a question: how to choose interior doors? Recently, a customer consulted us about solid wood doors. We found that many of the questions about doors are not well understood by customers. As a factory with 21 years of production experience, here we will explain the most important question to everyone: Why do solid wood doors deform?

Natural wood is affected by various factors during its growth, resulting in uneven density of wood (sunny side, density of annual rings, core wood and sap wood). When the wood is planed, the balance of stress in the original tree is changed, causing the wood to deform and crack.

High moisture content of wood is another major cause of deformation of wooden doors. As the moisture content decreases during use, the internal stress of the wood will slowly reveal itself, eventually leading to deformation and cracking.

Wooden doors are the most prone to deformation and cracking because they are processed with wood, have a large plane area, and have few fixed points. Since deformed wooden doors will directly affect the sound insulation, airtightness and beauty of the house, understanding the cause of deformation of wooden doors has become an especially important decoration knowledge before decoration.
